These fotos from 1985 are of one place: Oprtalj. This town of some 800 inhabitants (including those of surrounding area) is located on the Istrian Peninsula, that piece of land that juts out into the Adriatic below Triest. Before and during WWII, Italians were moved or relocated to Istria. After the war ended, many or most moved back to Italy, leaving many towns depopulated. Oprtalj is such a town.
