Bolivia
Presented here in sections are fotos from La Paz, Sucre, Potosí, Tarija, and Trinidad.
La Paz
La Paz, one of the two capitol cities, is located in a bowl. Population of about 2.5 million. Snow-capped Illimani is seen in the distance. The city is about 14,000 feet above sea level.
Illimani up close
Below is Cohini, a village we passed through en route to Illimani. I like this shot, because the severity of the mountain region is shown.
Sucre
Sucre, the other capitol city. They have a lot of buildings with white facades there.
Potosí
This is the mountain at Potosí, from which a mountain of silver was mined by workers in slave conditions. A dark spirit hovers over the community as a result of its troubled past. It was the largest city in the New World for decades.
Tarija
Tarija, compared to Potosí, has a much lighter, positive air. It’s a medium-sized city with 250,000 inhabitants. The area enjoys prosperity from oil and gas production.
Trinidad and surrounding area
Friends took us out on a day trip on Amazon tributaries. This is one of my best fotos.
This is another one (below) of my very best shots.
The next 4 are from the same day but on the Marmoré.
